Right now, times are uncertain. Fighting the mental battles of regular life and the new battles of a virus seem daunting, along with the uncertainty of the economy.

 

 

 

Fear seems to be all around us.

 

 

 

I thought it would be a good idea to share some rubber meets the road scripture to battle against the fear. Hope and faith are tools that everyone can have in their tool belts.

 

 

 

How do we get those tools, though? Can we find them on Instagram? There are pretty pictures there, but our newsfeeds are so flooded with things that even if there is a hopeful post chances are you are not giving it more than 30 seconds of your time.

 

 

 

Where should you find your hope? Simple answer: God. How do you get truth into your tool belt? Repeat Scripture over and over. Every time you feel fear, you repeat scripture. Every time you are getting anxious, you repeat scripture. Every time you are afraid to leave the door, you repeat scripture.

 

 

 

How do you find scripture? If you are still learning the bible or are intimidated of where to start, I’m going to give you some of the scriptures that have helped me combat the fear. Either print it out, write them on the notepad of your phone or put them on a sticky note that you will see clearly.

 

 

 

I have scripture on my iPhone note pad. And I have scripture written down in a notepad that I bring everywhere with me.

 

 

 

When I was battling depression, I had a note everywhere I went. Now I have a few that I read on purpose when anxious thoughts creep in.

 

 

 

The biggest battle you have is against yourself. You can not let yourself dwell on the thoughts that are anxious or fearful. TAKE HOLD. Capture those thoughts. Stop going down that path. Read a scripture that you have picked out that gives you God’s hope and truth. Repeat it. GO down the path. Think about what the scripture you picked out means. Meditate on that scripture. Thank God for His truth and promises.

 

 

 

Replacing the negative for positive is the only way to change your future. It is the only way to combat the mind battles in your head.

 

 

 

When the negative thoughts creep in, not if, when, have your scripture ready. Pull it out, say the quote out loud.

 

 

Matthew 11:28

 

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

 

2 Corinthians 4:18

 

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

 

Romans 12:12

 

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.”

 

Romans 15:4

 

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”

 

Romans 15:13

 

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

 

Psalm 62:5-6

 

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”

 

1 Peter 5:10

 

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”

 

Isaiah 40:31

 

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

 

Colossians 3:1-2

 

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.”

 

Lamentations 3:21-23

 

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

 

Deuteronomy 31:6

 

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
